We’ve all experienced the traffic halting, bumper cracking, tyre spinning effect the snow and ice has on our cars and vans.  Put simply the UK is not geared up for snowfall and our cars unlike some of our European counterparts are designed for warm roads, that are straight, wide and not perilous… well too much.

4×4’s though aren’t about luxury travel with Land Rover Discovery and Range Rover Sports as well as BMW and Audi equivalents. There are now a range of alternative options from all manufacturers. Kia produce a great range of of 4×4’s including the Sportage and Sorento. Skoda now has the Skoda Yeti starting at around £14000 and Volkswagen  have produced the mid sized Tiguan as a smaller alternative to the Touareg.

It’s also worth not forgetting about Jeep, a fantastic pedigree in 4×4 production with the Green 4×4 of the Year 2008 in the Jeep Patriot and the awesome performance and specification of Jeep Grand Cherokee.
